And I mean
COLD. Started at first light at Selesse. The water was a really sexy green with an amazing clarity. Frost flakes on the rocks were 2 inches and it was greasy hike. We fished the runs along the clay banks slowly and carefully covering any area where we thought a fish might be and the ones where they most likely wouldn't be. Fished all the pockets. Squat with a large side of poutine diddly. Did I mention it was chilly? Fortunately, my well prepared son had grabbed a couple of packs of those chemical shake hand warmer units to shove in my fingerless gloves and my fingertips managed to get a bit of feeling back. He's a good kid. We slipped and slid our way around and covered as much of the water as we could. Time to move - down to the lower section as my futility needed to keep up with it's fitness resolution with some more exercise. We waddled around a few spots, to no avail. Off went to the lower bridge to walk down the dike and try our luck. Not a sniff, but I did see some fresh guts in one spot. As we had to be back in North Van by 2, it was pack up and leave time. At least I got a cheap tank of gas.
The oddest thing happened as we had passed Thurston earlier when a pretty small bear cub was sitting on the side of the road. He was supposed to be sleeping.
