Alouette Lake April 30, 2016
« on: April 30, 2016, 04:58:46 PM »

Went out to Alouette Lake this morning first thing. Fished for about 3 solid hours trolling willow leafs with wedding bands and also fished the down rigger with a small flasher and small hootchie. Managed to land 2 Kokanee - 10"-ish. Saw lots on the finder down deep near the bottom - probably due to it being a fairly sunny day. Fished mainly on the south shore across from the boat launch near the stumps & logs sticking out of the water. Noticed on the finder that there is a "hump" in there that is around 25-35 feet deep and the fish seem to hang out around it in decent numbers. This was where most of our fish hit. Also went out last week and banged one Kokanee, again about 10", in the same spot in about 2 hours of fishing or so. Nice day to be out. Flat calm the time we were there. Fairly quiet, etc.

Also - does anyone know if they are still fertilizing this lake?

Man it would be nice if they stocked some Lakers in there again...

With regards to fertilizing the lake, I was out on Tuesday the 26th and they happen to be putting in the same time I was. Of course I queried on what they were up to and the response was they were fertilizing the lake. So there you go.
By the way, I didn't even get a bite after 5 hrs on the water. Cheers.

I was there today, fish seem smaller this year, only catching 1 over 11". Caught one across from launch and a few at the other end. most action on worm hook with full sink line, but ran out of worms lol. Didn't get much after that with fake maggots on a fender. Nothing caught deeper then 10'

Has there been much surface action at all?
Usually when you see them you can get them.
It sure has been poor the last 5 years or so.

There was some minor surface action at times. I wonder if spilling some Kokanee smolts downstream has anything to do with your observations Bruce.

I fished that lake hard twice in April, one little guy to show for it.  Nothing on the surface.  I might give one more shot one of these weekends since it has warmed up so much.  If it is still that slow, I will shift gears.

Too bad, I would like to fish it more often as it is a nice place to be and the closest lake to my house that I can use my big boat on.
