The derby awards and banquet will take place tomorrow (Sunday March 26th) at 10:00am, at the Royal Canadian Legion (5661 Vedder Rd). Beside awards for the top three winners, we have provided a large number of prizes for the draw for those who attend tomorrow. See you tomorrow!

As well, there will be a presentation by the Fraser Valley Watersheds Coalition showing how the money generated by this derby will benefit salmonids in this system for years to come.

Another great turnout for a great event.  Everyone went home happy and a cheque for $7500 for future habitat work on the Chilliwack system was presented to the FVWC.

How many steelies were there weighed in this year?  What was the biggest and who caught it? I didn't get to the gathering at the Legion this year.

121 fish were entered.

Yeah, we missed ya Rod!   Kurt Latkovich had the largest fish, 16.17 lbs, caught on Jan 22.

As I said, it was, as usual, a super event.  Many kudos to Wally and Shirley Hall for sponsoring this derby, to Fred's Custom Tackle for the great prizes, the FVWC for their collaboration, and the entrants for bucking up their $20 which all goes to habitat restoration projects on the Chilliwack-Vedder system.

Imo, this particular derby brings out the best in anglers ... they are told how the money they donated will be spent, join together for a meal commemorating Wally Hall Jr., and all come out of the building with something to take home.

I'm proud to be a part of this and hope this event continues into the future.
