Hello Gents .
Off to the sunshine coast on the loog weekend.
Closest place to fish would be chapman creek.
Any advice would be welcome .
Bringin my first time fishing buddy with me .
Will there be a need for waders?

Very small creek. Fish the tides. One day it will have almost no flow and you wonder how any fish make it up.. then it rains and fills up. Tidal boundary is the overpass plus 100m or something . Easy creek to walk, 2hrs or less is all it takes to see the majority of the river.  Fishing is probably more productive in the tidal side of the bridge but I didn’t have a tidal license when I was there last year. I released a coho jack caught on a small Gibbs croc.

If you have time I’d suggest Lang creek and brew bay in Powell river. Maybe more productive and very easy to fish, check the fishing regs for boundarys

Had some great days on Lang creek years ago. Up the creek and right at the mouth. Coho, steelhead and the odd real nice cutty. Don't know how it's doing these days though.

If you fish the tidal you will need waders  , you can spin cast or flyfish , you can get away without waders in the non tidal , harder to fly fish because of the size of the creek

Like Shinny says the flow can be light on the creek if there has not been any rain for a while , but you can always fish the tidal

I'll make sure to post an update if I manage to get into some fish .
So far it's been a total bust so it can only get bether .

Try to get some local intel and go from there. There's a few top rods that fish the mouth regularly (mostly first light) and are a wealth of knowledge on the timings and the other small details. Some of them are involved with the hatchery as well. I got some great help when I was struggling there for a first time.
