« on: August 05, 2004, 02:51:56 AM »

Hi...
I am a newbie in fishing....
I am wondering where are some good places to fish for halibuts, rockfishes, dog fishes, octopus and other good salt water fishes??
I went to a beach on west van and all i can get are bullheads...
Also what are some good bait to catch those fishes??

Thank you very much....

i should make u my aprentist
 hehe :)

head to stanly park under the bridge... i just lost a ... about 4lb ling?

basicly all the speices you want to target is where stanly park is... but the thing is theres alot of rocks and such... so be pepare to lose tackle..

if you want doggies. just head to ambleside at night... heres what i like to do for doggies at ambleside... becuase theres basicly no wind at night. so i just use a 3/4 oz pencil wieght. that way i can fight almost just the fish :) is really fun. but remember to fight it out there.... because they tend to put up 1 heck of a good one when near the pier.. if is not tired then is a 50/50 game.  if you want more info ... just pm me :D

You haven't got much response because most of the audience is focussed on the Fraser right now.  I can't help you either because I don't fish from shore.  By the way...they're Bullheads.  Keep trying, there are people who fish those areas on this web site.

well, i got it near surface... but my line was so scraped up by the rocks it broke off... and im pretty sure it was a ling.

I went to a beach on west van and all i can get are bold heads...

Slow down Jighead ???  I was correcting the above quote.  I'm sure you had a ling.  Too bad you lost it.  I caught a blue Ling about 10 years ago.  One of the best tasting fish ever. :)
