Matt is 18, and has recently graduated from high school by completing the saltwater fishing guide program as part of his curriculum. He is the first in this province to do so and it was only possible due to Dave Murphy's support and working with the school. Matt loves to fish and the traditional route of schooling wasn't for him just like many other people. In the past three years, he started working at the shop for Dave, maintaining boats during the off season, being the dockhand in Kyuquot, packaging fish everyday. Now he has become this knowledgable and professional guide for the team, we are really happy to see him taking advantage of these opportunities which Dave has given him and doing what he really enjoys.
The fishing was pretty good that day btw.
