It will be really early for the Norrish/Slough or Chehalis area yet. Go take a look for yourself but in my experience there aren't many fish around until October at the earliest.

Heads UP!  For all you first-lighters out there thinking about fishing Norrish Creek this year , go have a look in the daylight before you wander out to your old familiar spot in the dark. The stretch above the bridge has been altered dramatically. major gravel extraction has been done over the summer resulting in three magnificent pools. Be Careful... the banks are loose steep and the water is deep. Best to have a look in the daylight before venturing out in the dark.

This is probably gravel removal for lowering the flood profile.  I worked on the referrals in the 1990's.  We tried to bring common sense into the whole process, including providing more openings through the rail bed.  I would have to see the details, but am pretty sure that this is what is happening.  They kick the daylights out of this already perturbed stream by doing this.  Very frustrating.  I am not sure if this was done this year, particularly in a pink salmon year.  I am not sure if pinks have been extirpated in the Norrish....
