Saw this on Youtube  about 3 days ago uploaded from Nature, travel, adventure. Video showing a guy using hand held rope tossing a treble hook size 20/0 out to Vedder river flow upstream from the Crossing and pulling it in. Disgusting. No respect. They bunch other fishermen around and seem like nobody stop him. In 45 years of fishing the Vedder river this is real low point. This part reason why I rarely fished Vedder river during peak salmon season.

I can’t make out a 20/0 treble hook and it doesn’t appear that he’s fishing. Doesn’t look illegal to me…

I concur. No snagger in their right mind would be doing that in front of so many potential witnesses.

There was a bar in Richmond that I used to do something similar at.  I would cast out and rake the bottom on purpose and ended up with countless bar rigs and pyramid weights.  I think this guy is snagging gear, not fish.

I agree , he is dredging for whatever - gear , lead , maybe he's trying to get rid of some line that is on the bottom and that he keeps hooking ?

But whatever that looks like an awesome spot to fish , short drifts , lots of people to talk to especially when the guy next to you is casting over you constantly and hooking your line , sign me up !

I’m not sure if it’s the same thing he is using, but there’s lure retriever from cabelas which looks like it has trebles and would be used to snag fish but they aren’t sharp and don’t have barbs, I’ve gotten gear back with it so he may be doing the same thing. https://www.cabelas.ca/product/76626/cabelas-snagmaster
