fish taste
« on: August 08, 2004, 06:45:43 PM »

I noticed in the who are you section that fish-for-life doesn't like fish . Over the years we have had many friends ( ourselves included ) who do not like the flavour of salmon and trout . Found that the strong and to me sort of a rancid flavour like a fish that had been frozen too long , was not apetising to us . Found that if I knock the hide off and remove the dark fat along the lateral line the strong flavour is gone .Try smelling the fat after you knock the hide off. In some lakes ie Lake Simcoe the lakers are so fat I remove most of the belly flap and a v along the backbone --- all the strong flavour gone .If you find the strong flavour offensive try this method ( works good on pinks too ) After we learned this we never had anyone turn their noses up at fish .I guess some like it strong and some don't.
