Freediving video: Salmon & Baitfish
« on: July 10, 2020, 08:57:25 PM »

A guy in the Vancouver freediving group posted this video of two days' worth of diving: one in Tsawwassen and one off the gulf islands. Some of the coolest underwater shots of local waters I've ever seen! Check out 4:00 - 8:00 in particular... hypnotic clouds of baitfish with salmon lurking almost invisibly in the background. I could watch this for hours 8)

The flashing of individual fish in those schools of bait reminds me why I put prism tape on my spoons when fishing for SRC.

I don't dive at all but I joined the Facebook group in the hopes of seeing cool underwater videos of fish. Lots of great videos get posted but this is easily my favourite so far! I don't think I've ever seen underwater footage of chinook in the wild before... I love how they're barely visible, like lurking ghosts :D
