Actually, a G.Loomis Tournament Drifter

Real workhorses from what I recall hearing

I have 2 of them. Work horse reels as mentioned. They can take a beating if you are hard on gear like me,this is the reel for you. They are on the heavy side which is noticeable after a couple long days on the flow.

And the 258 represents the assembly line number. I have a TB 028 and a 255

Absolutely great reels. Agree with the weight issues as they are an older breed. I have two as well. One is 081 and the other is black with no number. I was told they were made back east. Don't know how true that is. Still, reels have both been very good to me.

Originally produced as Tournament Drifter by Phil Tichnovich of Lure King, later to be contracted by G.loomis Canada to produce them with the loomis logo on the backplate, darker colour and wooden handles. Most reels are used out east as thats where they were produced. Lots of different colours out there of the drifter, clear, black, brown, blue. Streamside made a knockoff version under the “FL” series.
