thats 50% mortality in undiluted effluent. when that gets dumped into a watercourse it gets diluted by alot.

It better be a lot since it looks like it drains into the Sumas via Lonzo Creek

Proposing to remove the limits is really concerning, as Rodney had pointed out earlier, its a cycle of ecosystem, where everything is dependent on each other, so its not just about trout mortality, every living creature is impacted and that affects the entire chain.
Reminds me of coca cola and pepsi companies polluting African and Asian countries to a point where people didnt have drinking water anymore and had all sorts of diseases though thats an extreme case

Science guy here, the lethal toxicity test they are proposing to amend is not too concerning IMO, it essentially means that their effluent will kill fewer than 5/10 fish in a lab setting over 96h.  It's called an 96h LT50 test and is a common water test.  Cyanescens already said this.

The more concerning parameters are the removal of TSS and pH limits.  The scale of earth moving up there has been massive and it's not surprising that they are having sediment migration problems.  A lot of improvements could be made in terms of water management, and removing regulations isn't one of them.  pH is an interesting one, I'm not sure why they would want to remove it, unless their blast rock is causing runoff to become acidic or basic.  Overall it's been a sh!tshow up there based on what I've heard.

Thanks for the information. Although I dont know much about the science behind this, but know that anytime a company proposes to remove limits that was put in place as a environmental regulation - is not a good sign

If they ran into sulfur and have exposed it, it will, over the long term, acidify the water in a big way.  Other streams in BC have been killed because of sulfur.
