obie1fish, the setup is found! Can you get in touch with me, either message here, or message on FB or IG, or email info@fishingwithrod.com (preferrably the other way instead of email).

This is amazing! I contacted the kind soul last night and am arranging a meet!
Turns out the fellow who waved at me on the other side hooked up with the outfit the very next day! I had left messages at the local tackle shops, but he hadn't been aware of my notices until just the other day.
And get this- my wife was about to get me a new rod for my birthday yesterday, but the stores just happened to be sold out of the model. She sat me down to tell me this, and not 1 hour later I checked FWR to see the above post.
I'm ecstatic and extremely thankful for the good people in this world.

Nice to read about such a happy ending!

Thanks, Ralph- for sure!
A huge shout out to Mike, who waved at me that day, but had to make his way home before darkness set in. He returned the next day and caught my line and setup in the same pool; took it home, cleaned and lubed the reel, respooled it, and brought it out to Abbotsford on his way to Chilliwack this afternoon. Enjoy the Beany Weenies, and look in the bottom of the bag.

Thanks also go to Rod, who contacted with me with the good news.  Your website does so much, and has had its share of "those days", but rest assured that this person doesn't just see it as a place to post fishing stuff; today it acted as a conduit to help someone recover something very important to him.

A very good service was done, and in doing so, a small corner of the world got to see that there are people out there who do give a damn, and whether they realise the importance of their actions or not, it really counts for something.

And thanks to those who weighed in on this forum as well as the folks at the tackle stores who took my lost and found info. This was a story of the profoundness of compassion by everyone. Another lesson learned.

Now I have to buy me a net. And loosen the drag.

Be well, everyone.

John

That’s great news, John. And a wonderful story too.

So glad that you got your father’s rod back!
