Hihiume lake is one of the lakes in Region 3 that is slated to have it's winter closure (to prevent ice fishing) removed. Sky Hi Lodge on the lake has publicly expressed concern:
Urgent request
The lodge needs your help.
Please go on the BC gov fishing website and review the proposed changes to the regulations.
Sky Hi Lodge will under no circumstances agree with the proposed changes. The government is broke and to use these rule changes to generate revenue is extremely short minded and sighted.
Hihium lake should remain as one of the most restricted fishing lakes in the province due to its size and natural stock. Once these larger fish are gone, they are gone for good and no amount of stocking will replenish these beautiful fish.
Please give your opinion on saving the great fishing in Beautiful British Columbia. We need to bombard their feedback link. This is not just about Hihium lake as you will see. Many of your favorite fishing locations are under attack from a poorly run government.
Kind regards,
Sky Hi Lodge

https://www.facebook.com/SkyHiLodgeFishingResortI agree to the extent that this and the removal of single barbless hook regulations make little sense from any perspective other than making life easier for some people.
