Stave River, October 2nd 2004
« on: October 02, 2004, 10:38:53 PM »

well canoe boy and myself had quite a day today even with a late start to the day we managed to find our way to the upper channels on the system and found our way into a few deep pockets holding some nice fish.
armed with some spring roe and green  wool we set to having an arm breaking afternoon.
the main river stem has a few fish showing but its not a full blown gong show just yet
the water is crystal clear  so you can see the fish your targeting
all i have to do now is get out early enough for one of them hoes lol
so were do they go anyway when the sun comes up were do they go to hide, that is now the mission ;D

Canoe...

I was out yesterday below the dam wall, Stax of fish around and they seem to be much bigger than last year. i was suprised at the quantity, and all still very fresh... It is gonna be a wacker of chum season.

i chucked everything to get them, Wool float drift and spinner, hooked one but i think it was a snag. 5 seconds and off. The roe guys were doing well, but i didnt bonk any. Must have been doing something wrong. Can bonk one but there are so many around.

Kelly Green is the ticket. I developed my famous Mat. Green fly pattern for those Chum. For the Coho it's got to be a Rolled Muddler with flashaboo on the sides.

Correct me if I'm wrong because there does not appear to be any up-dates.

Coho = 2 hatchery per day over 25cm.
Chinook = 1 per day over 50cm.
Chum = 2 per day

All upstream from the CPR bridge.

I have to say again...the BC regs are so confusing!

Whoops!  I guess I need new glasses. Here is what it says...

Downstream of B.C. Hydro Dam to the CPR Railway Bridge
 Coho
 Apr 01-Mar 31
 4 hatchery fish per day (over 2cm), only 2  over 35 cm.

Chinook (over 50cm)
 Apr 01-Mar 31
 1 per day.

Chum
 Apr 01-Mar 31
 2 per day.

I added the stuff in (brackets).  I could not get DFO on the phone ::) for an update and there is nothing on the web.
