Stave or Harrison...question
« on: October 19, 2004, 06:10:13 PM »

I am not familiar with the rivers out that way. Was wondering which you would recommend going to, Stave, Harrison, or other.  I don't really care whether it is coho or chum, just mainly want to play a few fish. Hasn't been the most productive season for me.

I have heard reports of some chum in the Stave (from this board) however will this be thinning out by this weekend, or is it still worth a go.

Thanks

unsure about the Harrison but the Stave should be peaking fer chum an always a few hose around as well this time of year, good spoon fishing there.

Is there a particular spot you guys can recommend, I don't mean any personal spots you may have. I haven't been out there, so any advice is great. Is the Stave the type of river where you can hike to find more space or is there only limited access with a few pools that hold fish? Do chum prefer the faster water or the slower pools?

Thanks for the replies so far. It looks like I will be at the Stave!

I just got home from the stave . I fished across from the trailer park I hooked 1 coho and lost it at the bank. I hooked several chum . I fished by two other fellows they were good company.  I don't suggest the upper river too many  people snagging old chum . The one guy I fished by caught a nice coho on a croc

I flyfish the Stave but there is a current in the upper river so I don't see why you couldn't drift fish up there
