how's the sturgeon fishing lately?
« on: November 07, 2004, 09:38:32 AM »

I haven't been out in more than a month due to work. Thinking of going out this week, between Mission and Chilliwack. How's it been lately, above the Vedder? .. below Vedder? Appreciate any comments -thx

It must be pretty good due to the fact that when I was driving past mission (just above the bridge) I counted 14 boats all in the same vicinity.  I am pretty sure they all were fishing sturgeon.

The sturgeon fishing has been red hot and very consistent in the area your refering to .My best day was incredible three double headers and twelve sturgeon in 2 and a half hours. Every trip out they have been getting bigger . My biggest was just over 6 feet but the girth was thick. Two double headers were two 5 footers at the same time . Some of the runs they went on have been incredible peeling line at an alarming rate for over two minutes at a time. One fight with the 6 footer was 25 minutes long who needs a gym pass.Best baits fresh chum roe.

Great report guys, do you recommend any spots to fish from shore?

Where can I buy some fresh roe?

You can fish from shore in front of the Mission info centre.  Park at the info centre and walk down to the river.

Bruce's in Maple Ridge had fresh chum roe a few days ago.  May still have some left.

Good luck and don't forget to report back how you did.
