japanese fisherman salmon recipe
« on: June 16, 2005, 10:48:49 PM »

worked on the commercial fishing boats for many years. one of my favourite dishes was a dish where the fishermen boiled (on the table) water, soya sauce and sugar (should taste good and sweet). then you add your spring salmon pieces (cut up in half steaks). boil in the sauce and then add your veggies (nappa, onions, shitake, noodles, etc). easy dish to prepare and make and very very tasty. you won't be disappointed. japanese name for this meal is called "jibu". seems to only work with spring salmon because of its oily nature but i have had it with steelhead and its not too bad. rice is must with this meal. fish must be fresh and ocean caught or caught close to the ocean (do not use vedder spring etc)

tip :  those butane stove elements or a coleman stove if you are outside work really great with a large cast iron frying pan.
