Hard Water - Lightning Lake
« on: December 05, 2004, 09:43:58 PM »

Fished the hard water, when I had a break from teaching the Scouts.  Was about 5ft deep where I fished.  Had numerous bites, and had a little 4" to hand, while later had 2 10-12" to hand - they became breakfast :)   First time ice fishing.  Cold.  Pics to follow - they're on a different camera.

Yup...it was +2 on Saturday and about -5 or so today.  A bit cool today when the wind picked up.  (Not a lot of shelter when you're sitting on a lawn chair on the ice :) )

just wondering where lightning lake is? I used to do alot of ice fishing when I lived in Ontario, havent done it in 10 years and was even thinking of flying back this winter so my gf could experience it,  was thinking of renting one of the ice cabins for a week, sleep on the ice, you can even sleep with a rod in your hand if you desire

It would be nice if you can tent in front of your fishing hole and fish the whole day day ?

I'm pretty sure you could later in the year, as the ice gets thicker :D

How thick was the ice? Was there much snow covering?

Ice was THIN :(  Only about 3"  There was about 6" of snow.  I'm glad the water was only 5' deep :D
