Did I say to wade the river?  If that was interpreted then I miscommunicated.  I would not wade that river either.  But, even when fishing from shore, it can come up fast enough to get you into trouble quickly.  I don't fish it anymore, after my buddy was almost stranded.  4 other guys had to be rescued.  They didn't listen when he told them to get out.  I don't wade any river over my knees unless I am VERY familiar with it.

The early run of Cap Coho's has been wipped out for sometime now, along with the Big Coho's the river you really want to fish is the Vedder.  The Cap has been lost for ever!

finally someone gives the guy the advice he was looking for.I would add for the inexperienced,try to buddy up with someone, shares experience maybe gas expences,seemes like nowadays people are away to busy for making time to plan ahead for gettogethers.used to have some awsome trips hunting and or fishing, shared what we had (often wasn't much) have some awsome memories.come home tired dirty smelly but relaxed.
