would they be applicable for bar fishin on the lower fraser area
with the cost of gas these days, the more local the better

Procure is available at most tackle shops and comes in a variety of different colors.  Double hot red (I believe it's called) works really well but there's other colors as well.  Also, if you're looking to use the prawn tails au naturel, just pour salt on them.  It leeches out the moisture and toughens them up too.

i have caught red springs on the chehalis using no2 red gamagatsu hook, 15 lb main, 10 lb leader, fire engine red wool, dark red (small amount) or sometimes green, bottom bouncing with a short leader (24 inch leader).  using this system i have also caught  summer run steelhead while targeting for springs.

also, if you are wanting prawn tails, i have found with steelhead that shrimp rings from the supermarket work or cooking up some fresh (must be fresh because the shell stays firmer), medium-large shrimp bought from the fishing boats in steveston works really well.  i usually take the head off and stick a round double sided pointed toothpick through the back of the shrimp to keep it straight and to keep it from spinning. i have also used pro cure with my freshly cooked shrimp or food colouring

how would u attach these "prawn tails" to the hook??

i usually just attach it at the front part of the shrimp/prawn. i will often secure with spider thread so that it stays on longer.

if i am using ghost shrimp i fold the tail in half and put the hook through from the top and out the bottom so that the head of the shrimp is pointing down. i will also secure with spider thread since ghost shrimp are so fragile. 

there is a great article in one of the STS magazines that showed how to rig shrimp and ghost shrimp. can't remember the month and too lazy to look but if i come across it i will inform you about it.
