Cap Late July 5th
« on: July 05, 2005, 10:51:29 PM »

Went for a drive because its raining buckets in North Van.  Turns out the river is still low... they have not opened the dam.. Saw 2 people fishing but only watched them for about 10 minutes.... Didnt see much action.... I would love if they open it up for the weekend..

i hear yah...

thats the biggest problem... we all wait for the rain to come and they all sneak in durring the week when nobody catches it... i am lucky that i drive over the highway bridge every day and get to see the water level.. but i am sure i will miss it...

does anyone  know when there is a bait ban in effect for the cap.. i know i can just grab the regs but i dont have one handy...

hey C F if you are native do you just go and snag or do you actually drift for them.. do you do this on the reserve or up river....I used to go and watch my native friends fish on the reserve when i was in high school ... neat to watch...

the usual bait ban date on the cap is august 1st
interesting to see if they will still implement the ban this year. many folks figure it's kind of a useless ban anyways.

The bait ban was originally put in place to protect the chinooks. Now that the chinook fishery is opened it doesn't make any sense to have the bait ban.

hoping that the water does come up and the fish do shoot up the river. IT WOULD BE FANTASTIC if shopping carts and man made weirs were rendered ineffective by high water.  I could care less if everyone thinks they are hatchery clones or not. The majority of individuals including myself really object to the fact that snaggers sit there and snag a dozen, then go and sell them at the bottom of Cap Road or take them to work the next day and sell them for 5 bucks a fish. NOW THAT is a crime to me. Considering I fish for sport, ENTICE the fish to bite, and spend thousands each year in general expenses and CONTRIBUTE to the industry and pay full taxes.

Was on a walk down there today and they are already at it in the reserve pool.  :(

I must admit that the Confused Fisherman (aka CF) is an ethical fisherman except when he is with me ;D

Good on yah.... I wish the natives would fish on the reserve using usual methods... Its stupid for them to snag and sell....  I think they should not be allowed to sell its stupid...

By the way went to the cap this evening... casted 5 times hooked 2.... wife called and said i had company over so i went home...

CF if i ever meet you i will take you for a beer buddy... love to hear this news from you
