Hello folks....
Just back from Burrard Civic Marina (entrance to False Creek) where I interviewed 2 boats who were fishing West Vancouver. I recognized 2 of the boats as being regulars on the water, and had opportunity to ask as I saw them how the fishing was.
Boat 1: Reports a few boats fishing over there, and they got out about six. 4 rods on hootchies and spoons, and 1 wild Coho to report, 2 missed hook ups and that was it. He stated that was closer to Pt. Atkinson as opposed to the fisheries.
Boat 2: Fared a bit better, and had 2 hatchery coho, both very small, just barely legal. Lure of choice was a tiny Tom Mack in RED HOT florescent orange, and a very small half white and half pink Apex---trolling fast at 30 feet.
Other than that, both boats report quiet quiet quiet with no Coho seen jumping, and little on the sounder.
At any rate, I elected not to go out today, but am planning to go tomorrow for Springs off the Banana...will post results ASAP when I get back to shore, as this will be a longer trip, so count on late tomorrow afternoon/early evening depending on when my boat gets started (gotta love sleeping in on vacation!)
No word at this point from the local charter fleet on their results this morning, but the tides are pushing fish around quite a bit, and pushing lots of Fraser freshet in the Bay on the flood in the late afternoon.
COST SAVING TIP OF THE WEEK: That's where it is at, and with Gas priced at $1.08 plus GST at the False Creek Esso, one would be best not to fuel up there, and fill up on land at 89.9 cents plus the 3.5 cent discount.
tight lines anyone who gives it a shot, and keep us posted, as we are waiting another bump of Coho to arrive off West Van.
