Sorry no way...back to the question: braid vs mono.
Yes it is way more expensive but it last much longer too. I have 30lb fireline that has seen 4 seasons on Fraser and is still good so it isnt totally fair to say its more expensive.
The low stretch is great for flossing, as soon as the hook hits the fish, bam its on hard as there is no stretch.
Visibility of braid is a downfall in some fisheries...makes no difference on the fraser where the fish don't see the line (or even bite for that matter). On the vedder for reds I use my fraser rod with braid but I run mono from the float down so the visibility issue isnt a factory in that clear water fishery.
I dont find that my power pro digs into my spool, they key is to load your reel with a lot of tension on the spool...I had to take 3 breaks from spooling up cause I had so much tension on the spool.
Its strength can be a weakness too. If you snag up with power pro you can damage your reel pulling on the snag to snap it off - another good reason to use mono under the float.
Over all braid is a good line for certain applications.
