Drove at first light to the runs above the train bridge. Some yahoos camped overnight and were driving the 4X4 through the water.
Moved up to my next hole and drowned roebags for an hour or so. Next one same thing. I thought I would explore and found some nice places but no fish. Finally into a hole I used to go to for Steelhead, there were a couple of guys there and one was fighting a spring. He successfully landed it and I waited until everyone was reset, then took position at the bottom of the drift. The first cast wasn't deep enough so I readjusted my float and cast. The float went into the sweet spot and down! Spring on. After 3 minutes of fighting the spring and the current I had my first spring of the year. Thanks to the guys who lent a helping hand. I guesstimated the fish at 16 lbs and the other lucky fisherman had just weighed his at 17 lbs. His digital scale read mine at 15.9 lbs.
They are out there, it just takes some looking for them to get success.
