Also - DON'T use a garbage bag.  They are lined with chemicals to help keep odours down.  These chemicals will rub off on your fish :(
Cheers.

true, sorry if unclear...but I meant to put the burlap bag into the garbage bag when transporting in your car if you do not have a cooler to put the fish in :)

Do NOT leave your fish sitting in the water.   If it sits in the water, the osmotic pressure will slowly waterlog your fish.

Agree, probably the second worst way of keeping your fish next to leaving it sitting in the sun.

Although if you leave it in the sun in a black garbage bag, you can pre-steam your fish  :-X

leave your fish round and cool
clean your fish prior to leaving
so many people clean their fish and leave them in the river baking for hours
yikes
keep your sockeye cool
catch them clean them put them on ice
and go

they will taste way better
