I was doing my scouting for coho holding water.  I was shocked at total disregard to the DFO regulation.  Anglers are keeping pink throughout the Chilliwack R. (the portion of the river upstream of Vedder Crossing).  I tried to explain to one them that they cannot keep pinks above Vedder Crossing.  They told me that it is allowed.

I was going to call the DFO, but I forgot my cell phone at home.

I think a simple solution would be for DFO to post signs at parking spots, along the river telling people that no pink salmon can be retained above the Vedder Crossing Bridge. Simple solution but they probably won't do it.

it just goes to show that the current DFO information system is not working. Even with all the forums like these and the different store fishing reports the masses are still not getting it right. Mind you it is every anglers responsibility to be aware of current regulations.
things are really getting ridiculous in the lower mainland

No matter what DFO uses, there will always be people who will ignore the regulations. Unfortunately.

In the freshwater salmon supplement, they had the pink salmon retention listed under the same area (Downstream from Slesse Creek...) as the other salmon species. I notified the person who does the reg to get it changed on September 20th, it was fixed the next day.
