Chedder River Oct. 29
« on: October 30, 2005, 12:11:01 PM »

I fished for 7 hours.  There seems to be very few fish on the river this coho season.  It never taken me this long, in the past 8 years, to get my limit.  Fish are realy hard to come by this season.

Fishing Stats:
2 jack spring bonked.
2 hatchery coho bonked.
5 chums C & R.
2 big dark springs C & R.

Not a whole lot of action.  I usually only keep cohos.  But I know that I will never get 4 cohos so I settle for a couple of fresh jack springs to fill my limit.

I wonder what happens to all the fish destined for Vedder/Chilliwack River.  I really suspect that they got netted somewhere en route.

Yeah, I should be thankful not having to take home a chum.

Your right, there are not a lot of coho returning to the Vedder this year. So far there have only been 4k return to the hatchery compared to 10 k last year during the same time frame. Coho numbers are down everwhere with the exception of the Stamp River. Ocean survivals have been poor due to higher than normal ocean temperatures. Chinook survival appears to have been great as we have had more chinook back to the hatchery than is required for brood stock. Lets just hope that Sthd survivals follow chinook survivals and not those for coho.
