Squamish River 11/16

I spent the day along the banks of the of the squamish.  The eagles were out. The bears were out. the moose was out.  But the fish....   

I can not complain though, for it was a beautiful day and I got to show a Londoner what BC is all about!  The water levels were WAY down from the weekend and even the shoulder to shoulder hot spots were slow to produce.  I am not sure if this is because of the water levels or a sign that the season is progressing....

Will have to wait and see.

I was in Squamish last weekend with 4 other buddys ........we hooked all together  4 cohos all chrome about 12 pounds each,  3 big dollys about 8 pounds and 5 other small ones 16 - 18 inch, also 3 rainbows that were also about 17 inch........... we hooked all of the fish on the fly...........

Five guys from the balkans using flyrods on the squish. That I have to see to believe.  ;D

It was a great day Nigglesworth.  Where were you standing, up by that rootwad at the Mamquam mouth.  I was here today for my last trip probably of the season  :-[ but had some success on the fly.  Popsicles were the ticket again today but the water is crystal clear.  Most fish are interested in doing to aquatic nasty now and are holding.  Saw a bunch of fish that are trapped in pools since the last high water event last week and and basically doomed unless another high water event flushes them out. 

Anyway, brilliant season in my books - final tally for my fishing crew (Mrs. HammeredCroc) - 3 chinook, 5 coho, 15 sockeye, 24 chum and 54 pink.  Gotta love the pinks to help  ;).  C&R for most species.

I dont fish with the crowds at all ........ the river is big enough to find your self a spot were u cant see anyone all day long...........

Or someone picks them up and places them back in the river like we did last year  ::) ???

Good on you for sure.  I did that last year at the Harrison too, wasn't quite so far as these poor guys were though.  I've seen a fair number of coho stuck at Chehalis in the trees as well at the end of January.  Didn't look good for them either.
