i was on the vedder at the bottom of Allison pool..first time trying out my 9wt fly...man it wasn't pretty for the first part...wind and rain was seriously f***ing me up at first...saw two other guys fly fishing as well but they were moving through pretty quick...only saw another guy and his son while there most of the morning..saw nothing caught but did see a small trout (I'm guessing, smolt sized) jumping below me....it was not too bad clarity wise but the river was really up and continued to rise while i was there, i had to back out of my original spot about 15 feet into the side current as it was picking up and started to move me....it dumped till around 1pm....

Only good thing was i was able to pick up a small amount of technique finally and was able to get some line out...damn different on a fast river then a field...with the wind etc i was only able to get my line out on a good cast maybe 50 feet....we dropped down lower and were taking a look at a few other spots (railroad bridge) etc. and the sun came out..i stood on the bank and did some more work and was able to get my line out 60+ feet to some spots we were trying to hit...so at least that was kind of cool...Am damn torn on really wanting to just catch a steelie and catching anything with the fly rod...I'm not very good at the fly rod yet but it is much more fun or fascinating or whatever to me...could be a long fishless season but I'm gonna stick with the fly for the time being....

Golfman, if you do not mind the drive the squamish is a great place to practice chucking a fly and hooking the numerous bull trout that are around. Wait for the temps to drop a bit so this rain can turn to snow on the mountains. The runs are nice a uniform with moderate flows that are perfect for the fly fisherman. Cheers, Winter Steel.

This conversation would be much more exciting if it was done in a confined cabin while 3 feet of snow surrounded it. :) It's always interesting how a slight miscommunication can always lead to a series of verbal battles where no one wants a compromise.

People, relax, breath, and rethink what you are arguing about. If you can think of other issues that are much more important, then I suggest you all cool down and move on. If you think that opinions of other internet users who you have never met in person impact your life tremendously, then please continue on and be prepared to take the consequences.

Secondly, watch your choice of words please. Words that are filtered out on the forum are words that we do not wish you to use here, because they degrade others and yourself, so best to leave them out.

allwaysfishin, roe kid is 15 year old. Being someone who's much older, I would expect some tolerance from your part. Participation of Roe kid and others in the same age group is always welcome on this forum, but at times they will come up with opinions that make you say, "what the heck was that all about?". When that happens, it's best to let it go or explain to them like an adult who wish to be respected by the younger ones. I personally don't think much of Roe Kid's comment "knowing me I would never bonk two steelhead..let alone one. I never said I wanted to bonk 2 in one day???". I doubt he was offended.

Thirdly, how was CohoOn! and Floater's opinions on you interpreted as the general feeling by most FWR members towards you.

<edit>Thanks for deleting and editing your own posts. :)

Oh yes, breath, and relax.

Regarding the regulations in Region 2, you can find it in the pdf file on MOE's website. In Region 2, the daily quota of hatchery steelhead is two per person, unless specified otherwise such as the Chilliwack/Vedder River system, which is one fish. Once you have retained your quota of steelhead in a particular system, you must stop fishing in that system, but can move onto another system and continue fishing if you wish.

allwaysfishin, your experience and skill as a seasoned steelheader are most appreciated, and your reports are valuable to us office-bound steelheaders. I do enjoy reading them, so please keep them coming. We all have our faults, so let's forgive & forget. Peace & harmony reign in this forum with a great moderator like Rod.

You may retain a total of two hatchery steelhead per day in region two. If the retention limit is one at one river where you have taken one, you may go to another river where the retention there is also one and retain another.

The total steelhead retention for an angler per license year is 10 so who really cares how fast that person gets to 10? If a person pays his $26.00 for the stamp and $38 for the license then they are entitled to retain what is legal. Some people don't have a lot of days in a season to fish, so if they retain one early in a day and then choose to move on to another river to try to retain another, all the power to them. They are not breaking any laws.

Steelhead meat is DELICIOUS!!!!!
