Trip To A Small Hatchery
« on: January 07, 2006, 12:37:48 PM »

While I was over on the Island, my grandpa offered to take me to one of the Goldstream hatchery's, that he volunteered at. There were no big spawner's left; however, there were tons of lil coho fingerlings in the tanks, most of which have been clipped already. I have to say the people who clip them, do a fine and fast job seeing as how the managed to clip 20,000 in a days worth of work. Anyways I got to pluck a few hundred bad egg's from the trays of Nitnat Chinook and some Chum egg's. It was good to see how many egg's there were and the ratio of bad to good egg's. I'm thinking in a couple of years there will be a few more fish in the sea ;D. Anywho I just thought I would spread a lil good news. Keep It Reel ;D
