Checking Out The Vedder Twice In One Day On January 15th
« on: January 15, 2006, 07:35:16 PM »

Slipped out to the Vedder at first light and got to fish two runs before anyone else appeared. ;D ;D Two local rods then finally got away from the coffee shop just in time to prevent me having first crack as well at run #3. :D

Saw or heard of nothing hit in the 2 hours of fishing in the area I fished.

After a SDA meeting this afternoon I got out for the last hour or so, fished some nice water but could not find any willing steelhead. I guess they are waiting for the weekend to end so we retired guys can get at them. ;D The water is still high of course and the visibility that is only just satisfactory in the Lower any way gives them so much cover. Meaning the steelhead just have so many places that they feel safe to lay in so you have to really work at finding them.

Tomorrow a number of us start the annual brood capture program on the Chilliwack Vedder so keep a eye out for the volunteers carrying the tubes. If you get a wild steelhead on and you see one of the volunteers is close enough try to signal them that you have a fish on. Of course keep the fish in the water at all times while the volunteer is coming to you.

You will be able to tell who I am of course as I will have my blue Leaf hat on  ;D with the tube over my shoulder.

I was out today with Big T. I didn't get anything but Big T landed his biggest chromer this season, a whopper of about 10 inches! ;D ;D ;D ;D Water clarity is "fishable". LOTS of people out today, but I didn't hear of or see any caught.
