well fished the chehalis today. since we had my dad's buddy's kid with us, we didnt get to hit the canyon but thats ok. we fished the intake with pink worms to no avial. We then moved down near the hatcheryand saw 3 beauty steelhead laying in the hatchery channel along with tons and tons of coho. fished below the boundary for a possible steelhead or cutthroat. saw one guy bonk a nice 2lb. hatchery cutty near there. we walked down the small flow from the hatchery and found a lot of good holding spots for coho and cutthroat feeding off the eggs. just hooked a bunch of coho. most were boots, and some were pretty clean considering the time of season. but no steelhead or cutthroat to report. maybe back out next friday ;)

yo how do u get to that spot? where about at the hatchery?

that spot is called the intake. just park at the lot at the bridge and walk up like 2 mins. and the hatchery is on the way there if your coming from the west before the bridge and yadda yadda ::). but below the hatchery wont be any good for steelhead unless the water bumps up a lot. you may find the odd steelhead milling about trying to get into the hatchery channel, but amongst all the coho, your chances are slim. also try small egg presentations for cutthroat. cast right behind a school of coho and you'll probably get one. ;)

Intake eh. I call it bottom of canyon....To the left is the big cement wall you can fish off. Lots of good water below that too. 2 months ago beauty chrome coho were bulleting up there hammering roe sacks
