Life is good Jan 22
« on: January 22, 2006, 07:31:17 PM »

Normally i let big steel post our reports from our days on the river but today he is out  with his significant other so he asked if i could do it for him,so here goes.Today Bs,gt,guppy and myself headed out to the lower river with high hopes of getting into a few,on the drive out the rain was coming down and we were a little worried if the river might have colored up overnight, when we arrive the weather in the wack is very good and the river is in good shape. We saw a totall of four fish hooked in the area we were in,at around 8:30 as my float is making its way through the run ,smack float down and hard, fish on,after a short but fiesty battle the 7 lb wild buck comes to hand and quikly revived and released, for the next hour or so we each had a couple of light taps but come up empty then gt hits a fish only to have it come uncorked shortly after hooking it,needles to say he was a little disappointed not to of landed his first of the year,as we cover the runs in the area we were in bs gets a strong tug with nothing but an torn pink worm to show for it,shortly after i am awaken from my daydream by a solid hit and the battle is on,this fish clears the water and is considerably bigger than the first one i had earlier,he starts to take line and is headed for the rapids,i tried to turn the fish but i couldnt before it broke of in the faster water across the river.this is when bs informs me i suck ,lol,After a quick lunch at woodies we hit the mid river with no success and no fish seen hooked by others,we finished the day off back were we had started earlier in the day with but came up empty,All in all it was another great day on the flow with some good people, i cant ask for much more than that, for those who want to see photos bs will post them later tonight.

no point starting a whole new post as we didn't beach any fish today. day 2 of my weekend of steelheading started with Rob.l, meeting me on the lower 1/2 hour before first light. Armed with fresh bait and a still steaming cup of tim's, we set up on the same litttle drift we started with on saturday. Armed with gawdawful large, tiger prawns, we start short floating a yard or so from our feet, and it's not long before I hear Rob woop and catch a glimpse of the thrashing splash of a nice steelhead, hooked in very shallow water. The fish did not stay hooked long but the smile on Rob's face was huge none the less. We got a few more takes in that run.... one i missed and ... so should not have  ::) , but them's the breaks.
We were packin it in for that run to see if we could slide into one of chris's honey holes a lil upriver from us. I had not yet fished the runs he mentions this year, prefering the mid river in high water conditions. We were met by another friend, barb, and on we went. We arrived to find Sea run and B.S. and friends and related our days events thus far. I only had one good strike that i new was a fish and ..... burned again. That was all the action we witnessed for the day. Saw several fished hooked by various anglers but none landed. All in all a great day on the river.

Alright, well, I got home at a bit after mid-night last night and was totally burnt, so I passed out!!!  Had to get up for work at about 5 am!!!  But I am on now and have a bit of time, here there are!!  A couple of action shots, and then the Nice Chrome wild buck at the shore!!  The last one isn't the best pic, I was moving when I took it!!

It was a great day, eventhough I lost a couple more!!  Two more sets of headshakes, 2 more gone!! ::)  At least we were able to get into some, that always make it a great day!! ;)

Nice Fish, I guess i was fishing beside a couple guys off the forum and didnt know it. Should have stayed abit longer, I was surprised there was only 2 people on friday and over 10 people on sunday. Did you hook it along the side channel by your feet?
