Vedder on a Fly

Fly fished Vedder over the weekend, for trout.   Don't know exactly the place, as I went with a friend who drove.

Hooked into 6 smaller trouts (& released unharmed).   One was caught on my very first cast, using a Royal Coachman fly.

Overall, a fun day.  Beautiful scenary, and hungry but small trout.

Don't go here if you want larger trout.  Next in the area is Skagit (don't forget your bug spray if going to Skagit, I am told).  Skagit is catch&release.

Hi SK:

Are you saying that there are actually larger trout on Vedder? Even the fishing store in Chill told me there are not.

If there are , where is Boundry Hole, sorry for the newb question.  And what 's the water like:  slow moving? which is good for fly fishing.

FlyNut, the method of fishing there is a split-shot weight and a small hook with a worm....the water is fast, it is NOt for flyfishing. All you need to cast is about length size of your rod. And the Boundary hole is right before the hatchery. You will be able to see the gravel parking on the left side of the road. When you pass Freds tacke, take a left turn at the crossing bridge. (its 3 way). After that just follow the road, while driving for about 10-15 mins. Its impossible to miss..i dont think that this is the place you wanted. There are huge rainbow fish in there. Thanks, Spring Killer.  Yap, that does not sound like fly fishing territory.  Time to whip out my long pole!! :) :)

yeah i saw some people hooking into trout with wool. i was at vedder today with robert and we both landed 2 sockey (realesed carfully) and we both lost 2 springs.

Anyways, are you going to try the spot. My biggest fish surprisingly took me a few meter down river. YOu have got to use light tackle. They jump like crazy, they are all wild.

I think my game plan is to fish that spot for a couple of hours (long poling), and then head out to skagit.   May be going in the next couple of days.  You goin'?
