No matter what you put in your vest ALWAYS try to keep it as light as possible. There are many reasons for doing so.

#1, So you don't have to lug it around all day for unnecessary use for such things.
#2, If you slip and fall in the drink, alot of weight will make it much harded to regain balance and depending on the depth can sweep you down stream. (I have experienced this)

and of couse, a small camera in a ziploc (or better protection), for all the nice fish caught... and released ;)

leadbelly, based on all the discussion on the board, I assume you mean something to floss teeth with, and nothing used to floss fish..   ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I also always take my cell phone....in case of emergencies....used it once when a fellow fisher was exhibiting heart attack like symptoms on the trail.

The things I put I my fishing vest depending on fishing technique (BB for now):
hook sharpener
ziplock bag of wool
duck taped triple film canisters of:  spin@glos, beads, swivels, hooks
spools of leader line: 20, 25, 30, 40 LB of Maxima or PLine
pliers, scisors, lighter, wallet in ziplock, cell phone
reel repair kit (screwdriver, extra parts, lubricant)
sometime extra reel
For Vedder I add floats, lighter line, pensil leads.

The other nesessary gear is in my back pack.
