Well, was up on the ved wednesday and thursday and I have to say this is the lowest water levels I have seen for steelies in some time....I had brought my uncle up with me, only his second time ever fishing a river, let alone for the mighty steel....here's the story, his first time up was with my old man and I in feb, and he got skunked, but I did manage to get my dad into one (only his third time out), so this trip was an attempt at redemption for my uncle....well to make a long story short...wed was pretty tough fished hard all day and not a thing....got drunk at the pub and slept at the hotel overnight and hit the flow first thing with a mild hangover to keep us company....Now I haven't been skunked all year, so was starting to get discouraged, but I did land a nice 9-10 lb doe up river by late morning, and this renewed my uncles enthusiasm for a couple of hours, but still he got nothing....It was starting to pour, and we were getting pretty worn out so I thought I'd put him into one last spot, where I had had some success in the past.....well, I already have my fish for the day, so I'm fairly complacent, fishing away in a nice little slot, when all of a sudden a beauty chromer leaps out of the water right in front of me!!!! Scared the $%%$^$ out of me, so I turn to my uncle to yell to him that there is definitely one holding in this stretch and can you believe it, it was on the other end of his line!!!! It's awesome getting a newbie into their first fish, it's almost like reliving your own first steelie, ya know??? Anyway, no pic of his fish, he had no gloves on and so had a hard time holding the fish after I tailed it, so it gave a good shake and got away, but here's a pic of mine....we all know a report isn't quite the same without some steelie porn
