After almost 2 months of not fishing I decided to hit the river with a buddy. We decided to hit the lower river somewhere between the crossing bridge and train bridge. Once we arrived at the parking lot, the both of us ran out too the fishing hole, so we could fish and still get back in time for school. As we got to the spot there was no one in sight, great! We both joked that we were gonna get a fish, within the next 2 hours. As I start rigging up, my buddy yells to me “I just saw one surface”
, so I speed up a little and toss on my roe bag.
From now on the action doesn’t stop
. 3rd cast, strike, ‘FISH ON!’. My buddy drops his rod and runs over to assist, about 5 minutes later the fish is at my feet. It was a good size fish around 8-10 pounds. The only problem was it was a wild, so off it went. We fished for another 20 minutes and moved down the run a bit more. As I watch my float drift along, I hear my buddy yell “Fish On!”. Now it’s my turn to run over and assist him. As I run over towards him he yells “Get the camera”, and I remember I had left it in the front of my truck. I decided to drop my vest and haul my friend back to get the camera, and arriving just in time to snap a pick of my buddy’s good size wild of over 12 pounds.
Now the both of us were pretty stoked about how the morning was going. We fished on some more and decided it was time to pack up and go. As we walked back towards the truck my buddy wanted to take a couple more casts in the first hole we started in. I know we would be pushing time but took a couple casts anyways, and what do you know, “Fish On”. The fish struck hard but decided to give up after a few minutes, allowing me to quickly reel him in. I notice it was a hatchery around 7 pounds, and decided to bonk it because it wanted to be the first tagged on my new licence. Wow, what a good day, 3 fish between the 2 of us. Time to get back before we were too late for school.
