With the Steelhead season just about done, I decided to take a precious day off work yesterday to see if I could find me some more of those elusive ghosts. I got a slow start. Slept in ... sheesh ... must be my age catching up

. I finally got to the Vedder around 9 a.m. after pit stops for gas and coffee. I fished the Lower Canal hard until 11 o'clock. Only a few other fishermen besides me. I caught & released 2 nice Whitefish, but no Steelies. Last time out a couple weeks back, I caught 7 in a couple hours and a huge 20 lb buck!!! Not today, though. I then hit Lickman Rd. Nothing. It was now 12:30 and getting warm (17c) and I was getting hot

, so I decided to take a break for lunch. After a quick snooze, I headed way up river for some nice cool air

. Ranger Run first. Nothing. Then Twin Cedars Run. Nothing. Then Fort Apache. Nothing. Then Allison Pool. Nothing. Then Tamahi ... BINGO

!!! Got a nice wild chrome doe. Couldn't find another in that run, so headed down river some more. Lost a nice one on my first cast ... on and off. Made a few steps to my right down river, casted again, then BAMMMM! This one, a big buck, in full Rainbow color. A thing of beauty. Not a bad day on the flow ... 2 Steelies C&R'd, 1 Steelie rolled, and 2 nice Whitefish. I might try and get out once more on the weekend if I can get my taxes out of the way before Sunday!!! It sure was quiet out there today. I guess everyone's given up on Steelhead for the season or a lot haven't renewed their licenses yet. Anyhoo, enjoy the pics! Oh ... almost forgot ... my ONLY ticket the past two outings ... small silver colorados ... although one of the pics gives that away

. Good luck to all heading out on the flow this weekend.
