Bar fishing works this morning
« on: July 03, 2006, 09:41:58 AM »

This isn't your classic bar fishing type bar but as long as there's a gravel bottom out in front  of you and enough current to spin that spinning glow it can work. Too snaggy for bottom bouncers helps quite a bit too. It pays to check the steeper banks in the winter to see what kind of bottom there is out front of them when looking for places to bar fish, there are a lot of spots along the river that nobody ever thinks of as fishable that a spinning glow works admirably in. Above spaghetti along Herlling Is. comes to mind. By the way if you're worried about losing gear in a strange spot try using a railroad spike for a weight, tie it on with butcher cord so it won't cut your line then go to 10 or 12 lb up to your rigging so it'll break off when you get a fish on. These two hit the beach before 8:00 a.m. this morning.

Way to go fishforever, it just gets so tiring having people tell you the only way to catch spring is to sna..... oops bottom bounce for them its good to see fish caught that actually bit.

It's not an avon, it's a Grice and Young Sejecta or Sequoia, can't quite read it from use, drum is 1 1/2 in. wide holds over 300 yds. of 30 mono, way too heavy for float fishing.  Back in the 60's and early 70's was the Cadillac of bar fishing centerpins.
