trajedy on the Capilano
« on: July 22, 2006, 12:23:12 PM »

Just watched the noon hour news and heard that a body was recovered from the capilano river, just down from the suspension bridge I believe, the person may have fallen from a cliff. Also a cliff jumper died on Lynn creek yesterday. A very grim and sad reminder of how dangerous our rivers can be, as I drove past the capilano yesterday it was really low and down to a trickle, but regardless of the river levels it is still a very dangerous place to hike or fish. Whether we are new fisherman or seasoned pros we all need to take a little more care and a few less risks while fishing these rivers. Condolences to the families for their great loss.

Very sad indeed.  People be careful out there, anything can happen at anytime.  Don't take any chances with your life! :( It is a sad day.

Be careful out there, even in low water the river is deceptively fast in some sections.

I remember all the stupid things I would do to get to good spots... which includes wading across fast water... It scared me so much I never do it again :P
trust me, it's not worth it!

Funny thing about it that my buddy and i are the ones who found the body yesterday afternoon and it was not in the water but a little ways up from the river on a hilly area. It was close to badger hole and he looked like he had rolled down the hill and got pretty mangled up. It was a "stand by me" moment and made it hard to continue fishing. Poor fellow.

The Badger Hole was where the legendary Ted Peck's son drowned.
