slept in today and still decided to head all the way to the valley for my third trial on pursuing my first sockeye. got to pegleg by around 9am and saw a ZOO there! it was a real shoulder to shoulder, lots of tangling and fishermen screaming at each other, so i decided to head down to seabird island instead. Quite a good number of springs were caught at the peg though. some guys even caught their springs first before sox.
So i arrived at the Seabird Isle by 10:30am, lots of people left with their limits, and that leaving lots of room at the bar! avoided the hell hole that costed me all my gear last week, and picked a spot at the middle bar. it was surprisingly smooth there and only 3 snags for the entire afternoon! people r catching fish real fast, but my first action didn't start till like 12pm. it was after i respooled my reel with the brand new tuff line, and floss without the corky. my move proved to be right when i got a fish on on my very first cast after that! the fiesty fish walked me down the river a bit, and 2 minutes later, there came my FIRST OF THE SEASON, FIRST SALMON AT THE ALMIGHTY FRASER AND FIRST SOCKEYE EVER!!! A 7 lbs doe she was
it was a big relief after landed it.. i was a bit too excited too.
the second one came 10 minutes later, a doe of about 6 lbs. that was a miracle. couldn't even believe that i was limited out on fish on my fishing trip...
got everythings done in like 15 mins.. that was just sweet.
There was something not too pleasant at the bar though. after spotting me landing my two fish and a group of 5 asian fishermen walking in, an old guy with european accent (then realized he was from croatia) talking shxt loud to his friend beside him " look, that's Asian invasion!". not a very friendly way to treat your fellow fishermen i would say. fortunately other guys at the river were very friendly and helpful. me and three other guys were picking up garbage after we caught our limit, and know what, myself has collected 2 bags full of beer and pop cans, lines and gear and even an empty TROJAN box~~! holy moly..
anyways, thanks again to u guys who generously shared me your success stories and tactics as well as your valuable experience, that just helped all the way!
