Vedder Spring Derby?

From what I have heard it has been cancelled due to poor fishing methods to target them !!

What. . . i dont believe it ! its usually around thanks giving day im sure it will still be on. Its not like people havent been using BB in deep pools to catch for the last 5 years. >:(

They may not be bouncing, but snagging sure is abundant.  Just look for the guys who set the hook at the end of each drift.

Slightly off topic but will the steelhead derby be cancelled as well ? There are people out there snagging for them as well.

after seeing the snagfest at the Lickman Meat hole last year I wouldn't doubt it... whatever happened to Steelheading being a pure sport

The Thanksgiving weekend chinook derby on the Vedder was always part of the Help Habitat Fundraiser (unless you are talking about a different derby by Fred's). It was decided that the fish were brought in by all means and some fish were are beyond their prime were brought to the weighing station. The two reasons lead to the decision of having just a social fundraiser, with various activities such as auctions, lunch and prize draws.

You guys have a derby for coho in Nov.???? Oh that's right you mean Columbus Day derby...yeah that's it.. ;) 8)

They ought to change the rule to something like if you can enter any fish on the proviso that you are prepared to eat it  ;)

Or the ycould just post examples of a good fish and a bad fish. I like those Derbys are they having that one on the eightth again?
