I've had great results spinner fishing these pools as well as float fishing them.  Just have to know how to fish them.

What I don't like is what happened to me 2 years ago... I got there early and was waiting for enough light to fish.  Just as I had made a couple casts, 2 guys with fly rods came up to me and proceeded to tell me "get the @!#$ out of here, this is fly water".  They threatened to kick my !@# if I didn't leave.  Fortunately for them, my buddy (retired Navy Seal) had not shown up yet.  At that time I wish he was there, instead, I walked away and fished downstream for a while.  These guys eventually left then I moved back in.

if i was there before daylight and that happened to me.  i'd call them on it... f*&% that... it's not about ego or manhood or pride....that's just wrong  >:(

I am surprised they would have been so aggressive, there is no fly only water on the vedder other than June or July I beleive. I have been involved in some heated talk when someone tries to beek there way into my zone, but never anything like that. Maybe a good thing for me, not so sure I would be smart enough to walk away.

I believe the Vedder is fly fishing only from May 1 - 31 below the Vedder Crossing bridge.  Above the crossing, it's closed at this time.  The entire system then closes from June 1 - 30, and reopens July 1.  The water gets high and ugly then anyway due to the snow melt - doesn't it?

However, if bentrod was fishing in the Fall - those "fly guys" have absolutely no right to behave like idiots.  I'm sorry to hear of your negative experience bentrod...

Thanks, and yes it was in the fall.  It definitely got me fuming, but it's not worth it to confront them.  You never know what idiots like those will do.  I go out to have a good time, take it all in, maybe catch a few fish and make a friend or two.  If karma has anything to do with it, it will come back around to those 2.

This would only happen when guys play around with feathers too often, it fluctuates their hornmones. ;)

That is an unfortunate experience bentrod! Thankfully I have never had a bad Vedder River experience. I think most users do respect others and recognize that we are all out there for the same reason. Rude people will emerge once awhile, but it is best just to dust them off your shoulders like what you did and move on. I think in the last few years this community has gotten tighter and worked very well together. Last steelhead season was a good example. Chris is a major driving force behind this. ;) His daily journals and constant reminders of garbage problems make people aware of these. We end up fishing together, catching fish together (well, some ::) ), keeping the river clean together. :)

And here I thought it was only BB's that were unpolite. Sorry to hear about your run in with the fly guys. I believe this situation to be extremely rare from any kind of fisherman.
