Escape From the Vedder!!!!
« on: October 08, 2006, 06:01:01 PM »

Have had enough of the slashers and decided to see how the local lake was fishing...It was super calm which was shocking as it normally blows out there pretty good...caught a few, had a fair number of hits...I seem to do a lot better on dry fly's for some reason...big guy was just at 17" the other one is a tiger trout i'm assuming..looks like a cross between a cuttie and a brookie...pretty cool looking and scrappy little bugger...Was a total recharge...Might head out tomorrow early as it's Columbus day...and I'm closed!!! ;D

That tiger trout is...I think a brown trout. Did you catch that around the lower mainland? I don't know of any brown trout locally.

Looks like a brown to me.  Brooks have halo's around the spots and also have "worm-like" spots on the back.

I stand corrected, it is a brown, Thanks Mary ;)

That's what happens when you spend a night reading an old issure of fly rod and reel and it's all on the brookies...saw the red spots and assumed..

Looks like the pond is kicking in again. The water looks like it is clearing up and the weeds are down. How do you like the house they are building next to the pond? I think it will change the character of the lake. Great looking fish. Could be a Tiger trout. Look them up on the net and you will see pictures of them.

A Tiger Trout is a cross between a Brook and a Brown Trout.

Yeah they were banging all day on it...HUGE black hornet nest by the boats at the walk in...Water is super low but temp. a foot below surface was 56* so that's good....Tons of tadpols...crazy looking buggers, the brown trout was stuffed full of small silver bait fish..got him on a royal humpy...swallowed the thing...my buddy hooked into a few 12" cutties, so it's good seeing them around too...

Where the heck is that? Never seen a trout like that on the Lower Mainland... Perplexed!

Cheers,
