So we would have to have a pic of the measurements also?
Another good idea, one pic with the measuring tape and a trophy shot if you like, but the trophy shot is not really needed!!  But we are looking for honesty as well.  With 2 people is shouldn't be that hard to get a pic of the length and girth. ;)

I'd hate to get stuck with me as a partner... :-[    I should get strokes on this...yeah, that's it, I should get a handicap...errr and I don't mean my fly rod either... :D

Maybe each team should have a fly guy??? probably too complicated...ok, i'm going trout fishing... :'(

We don't need it, besides it is for a good cause, a bit of money and most importantly... braggin-rights!!  But I must insist that you bring a level wind, because these big buggers mean business!! ;D

Saturday looks good, who is in for saturday? :) Who would step up to be Shane's partner?

One more thing, as long as one person on the team is from FWR that is fine.  So if you have someone to come with that isn't a member of this site, that is fine. ;)

Don't mind me really, I am just adjusting things as I get suggestions and pm's!! ;D

Ok, thanks to a ride by a certain person.
I am in now! I am a total greenhorne at float fishing and the Vedder itself :-[
If anyone doesn't mind a rookie for a partner, drop a line. :P

Don't want to pour cold water on the idea, just maybe tweak it a little.  1st. nothing brings out idiots like competition, and I absolutely hate fishing when there are derby's or tournaments going on.  The competitors think they own the water.  2nd. If you don't have an official measuring station, honesty will become an issue.  3rd. if you're trying to catch and release, taking measurements only increases the handling and prolongs the release.

Kind of sounds lame, but it's the only alternative I could come up with.  How about a best photo competition.  Doesn't have to be with a fish, can be anything related to the event.

Does sound pretty good, except for the one about just a good picture...even without a fish.

Still looking for a partner :-\

Thanks for the suggestions Bentrod.  But that is why it is a team comp.  The measurements would be taken while the fish is being revived, one person revives the fish while the other one takes measurements and a pic.  The fish never leaves the water other than for a trophy shot.  We all know that when Springs finally come to shore the co-operate with the handler pretty well, I don't see this as being an issue.  As for us being idiots, well I have fished with pretty much everyone that has showed interest and there are no idiots present.  I also feel that honesty will be a strong suit.  It takes 2 pics with a measuring tape as well, so again I don't think that honesty will be an issue.  These 2 pics can be taken in about may 20 seconds. Again, let me state this, without the fish leaving the water while it is being revived.
One more thing, half the money goes to a good cause.
I respect everyones opinion and feed back, and that is my opinion on the whole deal.  Besides, I figure that this is a better alternative than the "other Spring derby's" in the past!!! ;D

OK well, I wanted it this way because I didn't want killing of boot fish.  If someone brings a boot to the weigh-in station, that would suck and be a complete waste.  But if you guys want a weigh in station, than that is fine I guess.  I just know that if we kill like 20 big springs, how much of that is going to go to waste considering that the big ones taste like dirt ???
