From what ive heard there is no problems with the boats, its just the trailers that are the pain in the butt registering them and getting them transfered. Some guys have gone to the extent of buying a trailer up here and goin down to the us and get the boat.See if the guy will sell it seperate??

Stryker explained it perfectly. I believe you have to pay give or take $200 for the trailer to pass the border. Customs gives you your BC numbers for the boat, and you have 7 days to get your trailer inspected, Canadian tire does this.

Here's the CBSA site that will explain it all:

you only pay the trailer fee(180$ can) if its newer than 15 years, other than that just take your reciept to the border with your boat, no prob just take all the paper work with you. they use to give "K"  numbers at the border but I heard they changed that.

I have taken several boats across the border and never been through a "trailer inspection" and yes they were all insured in canada after they arrived. but be sure to get reciepts from customs for any fee charged.
