Harrison - Saturday Nov 23rd
« on: November 26, 2006, 10:40:28 AM »

I had a buddy up from LA (used to live here) who wanted to get out and drop a line. Took the boat from Kilby up the Harrison. Gorgeous day out there and only saw 3 other boats bouncing around. Great to see all the spawning sockeye and wow are there ever some big ones. DFO did a good job in picking their brood stock for this system. We finally picked a spot to anchor and throw in some lines. 15 minutes in a coho nailed my colorado blade hard and put up a good fight. The water was crystal clear so we could see it was wild, we netted it, popped the hook and sent it on it's way . It was in very good shape for the time of year - if it were a hatchery it would have been taking the ride home with us. Sad to say this was my only coho this year. Usually we get our limit and play with more in Bamfield but out of 3 trips this year, non of our little group saw a single one. So, it was great to see quite a few coho in spawn mode during our site seeing. I C&R'd a small female chum as well. My buddy, unfortunaly, did not get a single hook-up in our 3 hours out. Can't wait for steelhead season!
