Birdman is right, anywhere on the cap its like that, vedder especially. Steelhead always take lightly unless i'm using blades or worms! Springs are just dumb and gulp it down, but coho aint stupid

Yes I have had fish bite lightly, I thought we were talking Steelhead.  And I said rarely that I have Steelhead bite lightly, doesnt mean I havent had them bite lightly, just 99% of them theres been no mistaken them. 

No I dont fish the cable pool.

I have to agree with glx on this one. 99% of the steelies I have caught the float gets buried and there is no mistaking the fish for bottom.

Today two fish  8) First take was more like Fish Assassin described slow sink of the float like a snag. Second fish was like bottom
so I taped my rod up to continue my drift. My float still went down so I reeled up to pull out my snag and it was a fish.
That second fish had lots of opportunity to spit the hook, lucky me. :-[
