How long would you wait ?
« on: January 25, 2007, 12:31:47 AM »

You and your friend have agreed to meet up at your place at 0630 hours to go fishing. It's 0630 hours and he's not there. No phone call. How long are you prepare to wait ?

Normally 20-30minutes. All my fishing partners live pretty close to me so if they aren't at the meeting spot (normally the store) then i drive to their house and knock on their bedroom window.

I had this happen to me, and i waited and waited, but now when I make fishing arrangments, if there not here by the time i want to leave, i wait 5 minutes if there still not here then i wil leave, if they keep doing it over and over, and there not here byt the specific time, i just leave without them

That's funny freak I have had the same thing happen to me. Probable the same person. I now only wait 5min for him then I leave. No phone call then no waiting around for me. If he drives fast he can catch up. If not then he can look for me on the river that is if he can find me. lol  ;D ;D ;D .

This topic is dear to my heart.  Luckily the 3 guys I fish with most usually arrive at least 10 min. early.  I do the same.  However, one guy I've recently hooked into fishing is notorious for being late (for everything) so I was totally pissed when had to wait for him the first time.  To remedy  the situation what I do now is tell him to be at my house at 6 o'clock if I really want to be leaving at 6:30.  If he shows up after that I'm gondie.  So far he's been there when I wanted to leave so all is good.

Hopefully, he's not reading this post or the cat's out of the bag and I'll have to come up with a new plan.

ok simple solution
get his number call him when you are leaving and when you are half way there
then if there is no reply then he is too late to make it sio head off on your own
and enjoy the day knowing you are fishing and he is sat at home bored
regardless of how the day goes tell him you had a great day just wish you could of shared it with a friend

Just tell him in advance if he's not at your house at 6:30 and he hasn't called to say he's going to be late by 6:25, he can just meet you at the river, tell him where you'll be at.

The guys I fish with are always early , I guess they are just as eager as me to get to the river, the problem I have had in the past is with the wimpy people that cancel the night before !! this usually happens with the newbies I fish with , they will go out and buy a bunch of nice new gear and after the second or third trip they start cancelling on me !! this is how you separate the men from the boys, the women from the girls, the die hards from the ........... not so much  ;D ;D ;D

I have had this with my cousin a lot....he always is 30-40 minutes late....this is when you start schedualing your times 30mins ahead of time...like you say 6:30 now, start saying 6:00 as than he will be there by 6:30, if he is 1/2 an hour late etc...get what I mean?
